Rochelle O’Neal Thorpe, CEO and Instructor
In 1979, Rochelle began studying at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she majored in Business Administration. Her first Chinese class in 1980 extended into four years of Mandarin with an 1981-1982 Exchange Student enrollment at Taiwan Normal (Shi Da) Mandarin Learning Center in Taipei and an academic year at Tunghai University in Taixhung Taiwan, R.O.C.
In 2002, Rochelle was invited by Sue Bai Feng to visit her village, Xaung Ya Shan in the Province of Hei Long Jiang, where she spent the summer with her husband Richard teaching English to over 500 students.
Before graduating in 1984, she took an intensive course in Japanese and later in 1987 excelled at Harvard in a second intensive summer course in Japanese.
In 1990, she became the first African American Dorm Mother for Showa Women’s University’s American Campus – Showaboston.org

Helen Li, Senior Language and Creative Instructor
Helen began teaching Mandarin Chinese on the Isle of Greece, since then she has traveled the globe and now resides in New England with her hubby and two daughters. She is active in her community and loves teaching and inspiring others to learn cultures.
